Satish Krishnamurthy is a versatile percussion artiste of Mumbai who plays Mridangam, Ghatam, Thavil, Moorsing and Ganjira. He has led several Tala Vadya Concerts. He is also proficient in the unique talent of mouth percussion called Konnakkol. His style is endowed with rich cultural Pathaanthara (traditional form of learning like guru shishya parampara) and undiluted Classicism. Hailing from Palakkad, Satish has made Mumbai his home and is now one of the leading mridangam artiste in classical music and dance scenario. After having learnt to play the Mridangam, Ghatam, Thavil, Ganjira and Moorsing from renowned Guru T S Nandakumar, he went on to acquire advanced lessons in the art and is still learning from the well known mridangam player and Indian Sangeet Natak Academi Awardee K V Prasad. He has done his Bachelors in Music from the Annamalai University, Chidambaram and he has completed his Diploma in Music, Mridangam, from the Annamalai University. Currently he is Pursuing B. A. in Music (Mridangam) from Annamalai University, Chidambaram. He is also learning Ghatam from Guru Umashankar of Chennai, Ganjira from Guru N Amrith of Bangalore and in Eddakka from Guru Krishnadas of Trippunithura in Kerala. He is also a recipient of the Junior Research Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India
